Roelofs was one of the forerunners of the Dutch Revival art, after the Romantic Classicism of the beginning of the 19th century, which led to the formation of The Hague School. His works are celebrated for their atmospheric effects and detailed realism, capturing the essence of Dutch life and nature. His career was marked by his ability to depict the elegance and charm of the landscape, making him a notable figure in 19th-century Dutch painting.
