Jacopo Amigoni

Jacopo Amigoni, born around 1682 in Venice and died in September 1752 in Madrid, was an Italian painter of the late-Baroque or Rococo period. Amigoni began his career in Venice but traveled extensively throughout Europe, where his sumptuous portraits were highly sought after. He became court painter to Ferdinand VI of Spain and director of the Royal Academy of Saint Fernando. Amigoni's works are known for their elegant and refined style, reflecting the opulence of the Rococo period. His career was marked by his ability to capture the essence of his subjects with grace and sophistication, making him a celebrated figure in European portraiture.
