Johannes Hinderikus Egenberger (1822-1897) was a Dutch painter, photographer, and art educator. He was born into a military family in Arnhem and received his first drawing lessons from his uncle, Louis Henri de Fontenay. Egenberger's design for a memorial honoring Adolf of Nassau's death at the Battle of Heiligerlee was chosen and executed by the Belgian sculptor Joseph Geefs.
