Jacob Adriaensz Bellevois

Jacob Adriaensz Bellevois, born in 1621 in Rotterdam and died in 1676 in Rotterdam, was a Dutch painter of marine paintings. He was born in Rotterdam as the son of Adriaen Bellevois from Ghent. Bellevois was a follower of Jan Porcellis and Simon de Vlieger and specialized in seascapes. His works are celebrated for their atmospheric effects and detailed realism, capturing the essence of Dutch Golden Age maritime life and adventure. His career was marked by his ability to depict the grandeur and drama of the sea, making him a notable figure in 17th-century Dutch painting.
